I chose to write about this topic now because I discover in 2011 a new social media king who is Curation, the Art of : searching, selecting, sharing/bookmarking , organizing, interaction, communication, . In XXI Century Education where informatics and science developed spectacular and the use of new technologies aren’t regarded like a avangardist movement new tools and apps Web 2.0 and socialmedia can bring a new dimension and can reform education around the world because electroniccommunication helps teachers and students to learn from each other. These new tehnologies can stimulate discussion, open gatewaythrough knowledge, promote creativity and innovation for effective learning. Teacher and also students should have an entitlement to safe internet access at all times. Pulling Piaget and Papert, the use of participatory media tools in education is typically geared towards, creating a more student centered in a adaptive environnement where learners can contribute to the course material, formulate and express their own insights and opinion, construct their own understanding of materialby connecting concepts, to personal experience or current events, and learn from one another in collaborative environments . Web 2.0, social media and other digital and information tehnologies are powerful and interesting tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone and for this reason teachers and students must know how to use it in nowadays education The Internet Curator’s role is to seek on the web information related to a specific domain, flter them, select them, organise, share and present them in a unique mode .

Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum):

In XXI Century Education and around the social web new Social Media King is Curation who is about adding value for humans because only they can do what no computer can possibly achieve . The Internet Curator’s role is to seek on the web information related to a specic domain, fillter them, select them, organise, share, present them in a unique mode. For this reason we launch ICT4eTwinners project : Innovation, Curation, Teach for eTwinners where we collaborate and integrate new tools and apps useful for teachers and students in XXI Century Education . This is a eTwinning project launched after I was leader in community of practices 2 organized in SMILE Project . In our COP2 - Using social media in schools - whole school approach we have a team from 8 members who make a case study related to our theme
European Schoolnet (EUN) has been awarded an inaugural Digital Citizenship Research Grant by Facebook and for this reason they launched Social Media in Learning Education Project . http://leedu.eun.org/web/smile/home
This SMILE year-long project consists of three phases:
- An online learning laboratory for 100 teachers from the 30 member states of EUN's partnerships to investigate and embrace the educational opportunities social media offers.
- Research with the 100 learning laboratory participants to highlight trends and best practices for how social media is being used and can be used in classrooms.
- Broad dissemination of results of the research through EUN’s interactive portals for teachers as well as through European and international meetings and conferences.
Nowadays when informatics and science developed spectacular and the use of new online technologies aren’t regarded like a avangardist movement new tools and apps Web 2.0 and social media can bring a new dimension and can reform education around the world because electronic communication helps teachers and students to learn from each other. PLEs and PLNs for Lifelong Learning

Susan Burg
Daniela Cuccurullo
Letizia Cinganotto
In recent years, there has been a new array of learning management systems (LMS). Tools such as blogs, wikis, screencasting, and social bookmarking have created a significant shift in the educational experience. Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) enable learners to have greater control over their own learning experience. This session will take a look at the current situation by clarifying the concepts of personal learning environments and networks (PLNs). Participants will create their own PLE or PLN and select which Web 2.0 tools they want to support it, as the 5-week session evolves.  We will use a wiki and a Moodle for sharing information and facilitating interactions.

Teaching and Language Learning Through Gamification

Paul Braddock
Graham Stanley
Jeff Kuhn
Teaching and Language Learning through Gamification (TLLG) aims to give educators the opportunity to investigate the potential of gamification of language learning and teacher development. Gamification is the application of gaming concepts to non-game experiences.

We will be covering:
- looking at specific examples and contexts where gamification has been or can be used;
- using games inside and outside of the language classroom;
- engaging in professional development through play.

We also hope the session will lead to the forming of a community of educators interested in language learning and gaming to share experiences and ideas for continued development.
Multiliteracies for Social Networking and Collaborative Learning Environments

Vance Stevens
Kalyan Chattopadhyay

A multiliterate teacher constantly strives to understand the many ways that technology interacts and intertwines with academic and interpersonal life, and actively learns how to gain control over those aspects impacting teaching, social, and professional development. Multiliterate individuals are aware of the pitfalls inherent in technology while striving for empowerment through effective strategies for first discerning and then taking advantage of those aspects of changing technologies most appropriate to their situations. These strategies include identifying, accessing, aggregating, processing, and analyzing a constant influx of information, filtering what is useful, and then enhancing the learning environment with the most appropriate applications. The multiliteracies session achieves these objectives through heuristics for learning and ‘knowing knowledge’ inherent in the paradigm of massive or miniscule open online courses (MOOCs) with documentation of learning demonstrated through development of Me-Portfolios.
MachinEVO
Video Productions of Language Learning Conversations

 Randall Sadler
Doris Molero
Heike Philp
Edith Paillat
Marius Madrigal
Dennis Newson
Carol Rainbow
Marisa Constantinides
MachinEVO is all about producing films of language learning conversations undertaken in Second Life. A film of Second Life (SL) is called a machinima and it is derived from a combination of machine and cinema. Essentially it means recording the screen of the application Second Life. A major advantage of creating films in Second Life is that they are lean productions and these recordings of real live conversations go way beyond creating podcasts, because the avatarians may be located in culturally rich environments such as Berlin of the 20s or 1900 Paris, and they may be able to personify actors who live a life in SL.

In this EVO session we will learn how to create machinimas and the technical skills of film productions as well as post-production until the video has been uploaded onto youtube or other video hosting sites.
Teaching English to Young Learners and Teens

Dennis Newson
Helen Davies
ffinlo Kilner

Developing our Mentoring Skills

Valerie Jakar
Laura Stountenburg
Marina Gonzalez

MOODLE for Teachers

Nellie Deutsch
Ludmila Smirnova
Moodle for Teachers (M4T) online workshop will take place on a Moodle website called Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL). Podcasting for the EFL/ESL Classroom

Evelyn Izquierdo
Miguel Mendoza
José Rodríguez
Teadira Pérez

In recent years, podcasting has become one of the most powerful asynchronous Web 2.0 tools in our classrooms.  It’s enormous educational potential allows teachers to use it as a simple resource to support activities within the classroom and to create audio recordings of happenings in their schools.  This workshop aims at providing basic proficiency related to the production and publishing of digital media files (podcasts) and its implementation in the language classroom to enhance communication in speaking and listening skills.

Social Networking: Making it Work for You and Your Students!

Alyssa Ruesch
Marlene Johnshoy
In this session, participants will increase their knowledge of social networking and Web 2.0 applications for both professional development and to encourage student participation and collaboration. Participants will actively collaborate with their course colleagues on a daily basis as we explore, discuss, reflect, and then create activities with different sets of social networking tools each week. This session intends to foster a reflection process on the integration of virtual and physical classrooms through the use of different technological tools and strategies that will give participants some ideas on how to deal with such integration.

#edtech20 @web20education - free project in the clouds for teachers around the world was selected finalist in eLearning Awards 2010 . See and join project in the clouds

I was very excited when I saw that my #edtech20 project   was selected runner up in the category ENISA silver award for teaching online safety and citizenship  organized by European Schoolnet and Enisa http://blog.eun.org/eminent/2010/11/elearning_award_ceremony_pione_1.html#more .

The description of the project : ,,  Teaching and learning in XXI century using in a e-Safety way tools and applications web 2.0 and social media in education 2.0,,  is a project launch by me because I was selected this year to work in a TIS – INSAFE Teaching Internet Safety project under European Schoolnet .
The module proposed by me is called ,, How teachers and students can use free web 2.0 and social media in education “ and all the resources will be posted on TeachToday website . All modules where presented in 22nd October 2010 at Safer Internet Forum in Luxembourg organised by the European Schoolnet and European Commission .
Web 2.0 and social media can bring a new dimension and can reform education around the Europe because electronic communication helps teachers and students to learn from each other. These new tehnologies can stimulate discussion, open gateway through knowledge, promote creativity and innovation for effective learning. Teacher and also students should have an entitlement to safe internet access at all times. Pulling Piaget and Papert , the use of participatory media tools in education is typically geared towards, creating a more student centered, adaptive environnement where learners can contribute to the course material, formulate and express their own insights and opinion, construct their own understanding of material by connecting concepts, to personal experience or current events, and learn from one another in collaborative environments . Web 2.0 , social media and other digital and information tehnologies are powerful and interesting tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone and for this reason teachers and students must know how to use it nowadays in a safety mode .

Dear teachers , visitors and eLearning specialists you can join free this free opensource  PLN - PUBLIC LEARNING NETWORK  for this e-Safety project http://teachlearnplayesafetyeducation.wall.fm/blogs/1and also you can join many others groups - See it in the clouds :)
