Finally #aPLaNet teacher guide was released #edtech20 #pln

I am still last year aPLaNet associate partener and also I will be a mentor in this project and I made a group Curation Social Media King for Mentors http://aplanet-project.org/group/curation-social-media-king?xg_source=activity . Now I am verry happy because finally was released aPLaNet teacher guide . After I read the guide I am sure that this project will open gateway to knowledge for teachers worldwide and if you are agree with me leave a comment .

Also still this year I invite to visit weekly this blog because I will explain every week gr8 tools and apps useful for XXI Century Education .

The aPLaNet Project http://aplanet-project.org/

Do you use social networks like Facebook, Twitter & Nings?
Do you use them for personal reasons, to keep in touch with friends and family or for professional reasons?
Do you think social networks such as these can contribute to your own professional development?

These are some of the questions we will be asking hundreds of foreign language educators - and we hope you will be one of them - to find out their attitudes to using Social Networking sites to create and build their PLN, in other words, their Personal Learning Network

During the two years of the aPLaNet project, we will be collaborating with our partner institutions to create support and resources which will help foreign
language teachers in Europe to understand and use social network in order to:
Build and expand their PLN by connecting with educators on Facebook, Twitter & Nings
Continue with their professional development in an autonomous way
Acquire the skills and digital literacies required in order to use these mediums successfully and productively

Webheads in Action is a long-standing community of practice of language teachers worldwide, coordinated by Vance Stevens. In the Becoming a Webhead workshop, which is an introduction to Webheads in Action, we explore Web communication tools and share the best ways of using them in our teaching practices, engage with students in virtual classes, collaborate in projects, and participate in conferences as audience and presenters. This collaboration takes place online, as we are all geographically apart. Would you like to join us?
TESOL-Drama Workshop: Implementing and Evaluating the Facilitation of English Language learning through Drama

Gary Carkin
Nigel Caplan
Shin-Mei Kao
Susan Hillyard
Leslie Sapp
Fernanda Molla
Holly Dilatush

TESOL-Drama is an eight-year-old community of language/drama practitioners world-wide, coordinated by Gary Carkin and co-moderated by Nigel Caplan, Shin-Mei Kao, Susan Hillyard, Leslie Sapp, Fernanda Molla, Jessica Davis, Holly Dilatush and others. In the TESOL-Drama Workshop, we will explore best practices for integrating the teaching of language through drama, effective uses of drama-based techniques, and methods of assessing the language learned as a result. We collaborate online, ask and answer questions related to teaching and assessing English through drama, and encourage the use of drama-based activities in language teaching.
Digital Storytelling for Young Learners

Shelly Terrell
Özge Karaoglu
Barbara Sakamoto
Esra Girgin
Jennifer Verschoor
David Dodgson
Michelle Worgan
Sabrina de Vita

How do we encourage young learners to use the English they learn in a meaningful context? Children can have access to various online creation and publication tools to share stories. Participants will explore various applications that motivate learners to share stories through comic creation tools, free Web 2.0 tools, mobile devices, and more.

Digital Tools with Purpose in the Classroom

Ana Maria Menezes
Carla Arena
Cheryl Oakes
Erika Cruvinel
Jane Petring
Kathy Epps
Mary Hillis
Nina Lyiulkun
Saša Sirk
Interested in learning about new web tools for your classroom? Come and learn about digital tools with purpose.
Be part of an international group of educators who are always looking to share best practices from their classrooms.  How can you help learners develop 21st century multiliteracy skills through active learning enhanced by the right tools for your specific pedagogical needs?

In this five-week online workshop offered through the Electronic Village Online, participants will be introduced to various online tools and will learn how to effectively incorporate these resources into their teaching practices. By the end of the workshop, participants will have had an overview of simple ways to spice up their lesson plans to promote students' creativity, engagement and learning. We promise it will be madly fun!
PLEs and PLNs for Lifelong Learning

Susan Burg
Daniela Cuccurullo
Letizia Cinganotto
In recent years, there has been a new array of learning management systems (LMS). Tools such as blogs, wikis, screencasting, and social bookmarking have created a significant shift in the educational experience. Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) enable learners to have greater control over their own learning experience. This session will take a look at the current situation by clarifying the concepts of personal learning environments and networks (PLNs). Participants will create their own PLE or PLN and select which Web 2.0 tools they want to support it, as the 5-week session evolves.  We will use a wiki and a Moodle for sharing information and facilitating interactions.

Teaching and Language Learning Through Gamification

Paul Braddock
Graham Stanley
Jeff Kuhn
Teaching and Language Learning through Gamification (TLLG) aims to give educators the opportunity to investigate the potential of gamification of language learning and teacher development. Gamification is the application of gaming concepts to non-game experiences.

We will be covering:
- looking at specific examples and contexts where gamification has been or can be used;
- using games inside and outside of the language classroom;
- engaging in professional development through play.

We also hope the session will lead to the forming of a community of educators interested in language learning and gaming to share experiences and ideas for continued development.
Multiliteracies for Social Networking and Collaborative Learning Environments

Vance Stevens
Kalyan Chattopadhyay

A multiliterate teacher constantly strives to understand the many ways that technology interacts and intertwines with academic and interpersonal life, and actively learns how to gain control over those aspects impacting teaching, social, and professional development. Multiliterate individuals are aware of the pitfalls inherent in technology while striving for empowerment through effective strategies for first discerning and then taking advantage of those aspects of changing technologies most appropriate to their situations. These strategies include identifying, accessing, aggregating, processing, and analyzing a constant influx of information, filtering what is useful, and then enhancing the learning environment with the most appropriate applications. The multiliteracies session achieves these objectives through heuristics for learning and ‘knowing knowledge’ inherent in the paradigm of massive or miniscule open online courses (MOOCs) with documentation of learning demonstrated through development of Me-Portfolios.
MachinEVO
Video Productions of Language Learning Conversations

 Randall Sadler
Doris Molero
Heike Philp
Edith Paillat
Marius Madrigal
Dennis Newson
Carol Rainbow
Marisa Constantinides
MachinEVO is all about producing films of language learning conversations undertaken in Second Life. A film of Second Life (SL) is called a machinima and it is derived from a combination of machine and cinema. Essentially it means recording the screen of the application Second Life. A major advantage of creating films in Second Life is that they are lean productions and these recordings of real live conversations go way beyond creating podcasts, because the avatarians may be located in culturally rich environments such as Berlin of the 20s or 1900 Paris, and they may be able to personify actors who live a life in SL.

In this EVO session we will learn how to create machinimas and the technical skills of film productions as well as post-production until the video has been uploaded onto youtube or other video hosting sites.
Teaching English to Young Learners and Teens

Dennis Newson
Helen Davies
ffinlo Kilner
The  IATEFL Young Learners and Teenagers Special Interest group (YLTSIG)  is really pleased to invite you to join its EVO session for 2012. Over the five-week session, we invite you to join us in one of the best virtual staffrooms online.

YLTSIG members, all well-known dynamic members of the English Language Learning Community, will be joining us to share their particular expertise on a wide variety of subjects. Participants will be able to discuss and share experiences, ideas, thoughts through the regular online meetings: special needs, difficult pupils, games and language aims, very young learners, technology for teens... ... all just part of the programme.
Developing our Mentoring Skills

Valerie Jakar
Laura Stountenburg
Marina Gonzalez
Mentoring is a 6 year-old community of practice of teacher educators worldwide. We have been offering workshops consistently on different issues related to Mentoring and this year we want to delve into a more personal aspect of it: developing one’s own mentoring skills. We will share, show and discuss the skills in webinars with our expert members.   Would you like to join us?
MOODLE for Teachers

Nellie Deutsch
Ludmila Smirnova
Moodle for Teachers (M4T) online workshop will take place on a Moodle website called Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL). The aim of the M4T workshop is to provide participants, who have never used Moodle or who would like to enrich their previous Moodle experiences, with the knowledge and skills to navigate a Moodle course, access resources and activities from a student perspective, and practice the same resources and activities in the team and class sandboxes as teachers. The participants will collaborate as they develop a lesson on the Moodle.
Podcasting for the EFL/ESL Classroom

Evelyn Izquierdo
Miguel Mendoza
José Rodríguez
Teadira Pérez

In recent years, podcasting has become one of the most powerful asynchronous Web 2.0 tools in our classrooms.  It’s enormous educational potential allows teachers to use it as a simple resource to support activities within the classroom and to create audio recordings of happenings in their schools.  This workshop aims at providing basic proficiency related to the production and publishing of digital media files (podcasts) and its implementation in the language classroom to enhance communication in speaking and listening skills.

Social Networking: Making it Work for You and Your Students!

Alyssa Ruesch
Marlene Johnshoy
In this session, participants will increase their knowledge of social networking and Web 2.0 applications for both professional development and to encourage student participation and collaboration. Participants will actively collaborate with their course colleagues on a daily basis as we explore, discuss, reflect, and then create activities with different sets of social networking tools each week. This session intends to foster a reflection process on the integration of virtual and physical classrooms through the use of different technological tools and strategies that will give participants some ideas on how to deal with such integration.
Tutoring with Web 2.0 Tools - Designing for Social Presence

Mirjam Hauck
Sylvia Warnecke
This 5-week programme trains for effective learner-centred online moderation focusing on the role/impact of social presence. The programme is open to practitioners from all subject areas. During each week, you work on 3 activities, which should take no more than 2.5 hours altogether. In each activity you are encouraged to engage with theoretical input, draw on your own experiences and make connections to your current or future teaching practice.

Description :
I launch this project because Curation is the Social Media King and Next Big Thing still 2011 around the social web and social media curation tools are the gateway through semantic web 3.0 in #education20 and for this reason I invite teachers and researchers worldwide to join free this global project .
Curation is King of Knowledge in Social Media and the Art of : searching, selecting, sharing/bookmarking , tagging, organizing, interaction, communication . Steve Rosenbaum describe in his book Curation : (p 3-4) Curation is about adding value from humans … Curation is very much the core shift in commerce, editorial, and communities that require highly qualified humans. Humans aren’t extra, or special, or enhancements; humans arecurators. They do what no computer can possibly achieve.
(p 12-13) No longer is the algorithm in charge. Human curators have become essential software. What emerges is new human and computer collaboration … The important news of the emergence of a Curation Nation is that humans are very much back in charge. The Internet Curator's role is to seek on the web information related to a specific domain, filter them, select them, organise, share and present them in a unique way.
Now, if you have done any of that work before, you should know that doing so has many benefits, but is also very time consuming. I mean, you can always scour your friends blogs, do a search, visit news sites or other trusted sources available to you. But then, there is the matter of putting them all together, by copying and pasting, editing, among other things.
In essence, you choose a topic, research for the best articles out there, combine them into a post, publish, and share it to the world. That’s curating content!

I am verry happy because #edtech20 #socialmedia #curation project has now a free browser app and also you can use it on ipad, ipod and iphone you you can download free from here

 Description of the mobile app
Curation is the online King who open gateway to knowledge and for semantic web 3.0 . For this reason I launch #edtech20 #socialmedia #curation project gateway to knowledge  in #education20 http://www.justabout.co/edtech20socialmediacurationproject . Curation is King of Knowledge in Social Media and the Art of : searching, selecting, sharing/bookmarking , tagging, organizing, interaction, communication http://xeeme.com/eCurator/  . I curate the best social media , web 2.0 and eLearning tools and apps who open gateway to knowledge in #education20 http://unhub.com/web20education/ http://bit.ly/Lucian20 . If you download this app you will discover many web 2.0, social media and eLearning tools and apps who bring gateway to knowledge for teachers and students worldwide . In the same time you will learn what is Curation and why is the Social Media King .  Just follow me for more http://www.socialfollow.com/profiles/lucianecurator/ . In 2 words curation is ,, human knowledge “ .

About
#edtech20 free project http://central.ly/web20education/ is extended of the project ,, Teach, learn, play in 21st Century using web 2.0, social media used in an e-Safe way in education 2.0 " who was selected finalist project in ELEARNING AWARDS 2010 , runner up in the cathegory ENISA silver award for teaching online safety and citizenship .

I start this project because I was selected in june 2010 by European Schoolnet to work in the TIS – Insafe ; Teaching Internet Safety Project under European Schoolnet and TeachToday . I made a team from next european teachers : Coordinator Lucian Cornel Duma (ROMANIA) - me , Aureo Torres (SPAIN) ,Maria Sourgiadaki (GREECE) ,Catalina Nicolin ( MECTS Romania ) and Inge de Cleyn ( Belgium ) . We work all at this module proposed by me is called ,, How teachers and students can use free web 2.0 and social media in education 2.0 “ and all the resource where presented on Teachtoday website between 21- 22 octomber 2010 at Safer Internet Forum in Louxembourg . We made next teaching units :
1. Free microblogging safely in education : Twitter apps http://www.slideshare.net/DUMACORNELLUCIAN/teaching-unit-free-blogging-safety-in-education-5326694
2. Free blogging safely in education http://www.slideshare.net/DUMACORNELLUCIAN/teaching-unit-free-blogging-safety-in-education-53343973.
3.Free animation 2.0 safely in education http://www.slideshare.net/DUMACORNELLUCIAN/free-animation-20-safety-in-education
4. How to introduce Internet safety issue via the discovery of free virtual worlds , Second Life.
I belive that new technologies web 2.0 and social media can open gateway to knowledge for teachers worldwide and for this reason curation tools will prepare the appearance of semantic web 3.0 in XXI Century Education and I http://gplus.to/LucianDumaTeacherCurator made on #edtech20 circle on google plus ( the new tool who prepaire the introduction of new web in #education20 ) . I wish in the future to make a big platform where teachers worldwide can discuss how they can integrate efficiently new technologies in #education20 , but for this we need help and founds and I hope toghether to bring edreform .

Curation has always been an underrated form of creation and it is generally the selection of, care for and presentation of the objects entered into a collection, whether that collection is physical (such as items in a museum) , digital (such as entries in Wikipedia) . Today I use gr8 curation tools many in beta for curating social media ( tools, apps, articles , blog posts , tweets , videos , photos and much more ) like scoop.it , perltrees , postano , shareist , storify , chirpstory , curated.by and bagtheweb .
My favorite are 4 scoop.it , pearltrees , postano , shareist, but every day appear new curation tools who prepair the aparition of Semantic Web who is driving the evolution of the current Web by enabling users to find, share, and combine information more easily . For example delicious tool is a kind of curation, but this new curation tools allows your readers to add comments and suggestion for evry post .
The emphasis of curation may vary among:
The selection process - such as the use of expertise or expert advice to decide what items or content should be added to a collection or archive.
The caretaking process - controlling the decay of historical object (such as census records) .
Presentation - determining how objects or records are displayed, including what metadata will be displayed along with them.
2011 is the begining of New Era of Curation and every day appear new awesome social media curation tools like write Mashable in the article 4 Promising Curation Tools That Help Make Sense of the web . When I read Mashable's article I allready used Pearltrees http://pearltrees.com/#/web20education and after I made #edtech20 team on pearltrees . When Tim Berners Lee originally conceived of the Internet, he envisioned three principal functions and I think that is curation
Allow anyone to access any type of document
Allow everyone to disseminate his or her own documents
Allow everyone to organize the entire collection of documents

Brian Solis write also in his website about curation and curators who play an important role in the evolution of new media, the reach of material information, and the social nicheworks that unite as a result. Curators promote interaction, collaboration, as well as education around the topics that are important to them. As such, services that empower curators will fill the void between creation and consumption. Forrester’s estimation of consumers of social content will erode from 70% to much lower numbers as many ease into social networking through curation – sharing with others the content that captivates their attention. The ease of doing so forever converts the static consumer into a productive curator or perhaps one day, a full fledged creator.
With creation and curation increasing the exchange of information commerce, we are moving new media toward the mainstream creating bridges between social and traditional media and the people who connect around related information. As such, what you discover and equally what you share creates an information economy rich with contextual and topical relevance linked through shared experiences.

Work process
I want to collaborate in #edtech20 project with teachers worldwide and to discuss about new tools and apps web 2.0 , social media , and semantic web 3.0 . We will discover toghether how to use many edtools , apps and widgets related to mlearning, wikis , blogs , microblogs , social networking , news readers and news agregators , animation , cloud words , online communities , on-line web conferencing , chats and webinars , bookmarking , sharing using videos , photos , interactive presentations , documents , podcast and audio . I am in the top scoop.it curators ( 50 000 visitors on my topics )and for this reason I made a scoopit curation topic and also a blog for my favorite topics .
This project AIMS to bring free semantic web in XXI Century Education . Here you can see curation in action and join , share and follow  this curation topics :
